About JEE Main :

The Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India has entrusted the responsibility of conducting Joint Entrance Examination JEE (Main) to the NTA from 2019 onwards. Admission criteria to Undergraduate Engineering Programs at NITs, IIITs, other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTI), by participating though Central Seat Allocation Board subject to the condition that the candidate should have secured at least 75% marks in the 12th class examination, or be in the top 20 percentile in the 12th class examination conducted by the respective Boards. For SC/ST candidates the qualifying marks would be 65% in the 12th class examination.

JEE Main 2020 :

It is a national level entrance test. It is organized to offer admission in B.E./B.Tech. and B.Arch./B.Plan. courses. NITs, CFTIs and various other colleges and institutions of India consider the JEE Main scores for providing admission. The B.E./B.Tech. of JEE (Main) will also be an eligibility test for the JEE (Advanced), which the candidate has to take if he/she is aspiring for admission to the undergraduate programs offered by the IITs. The JEE (Main)-2020 will be conducted twice before admissions in the next academic session giving one more opportunity to the students to improve their scores in examination if they fail to give their best in first attempt without wasting their whole academic year. The student’s best of the two NTA scores will be considered for preparation of Merit List/ Ranking. The first JEE (Main) – 2020 will be held in January 2020 whereas the second will be held in April. Mode & Medium of Examination :

Mode of Examination JEE (Main)-2020 will be conducted in the following modes:

  1. B.E./B. Tech. in “Computer Based Test (CBT)” mode only.
  2. B. Arch.: Mathematics- Part I and Aptitude Test-Part II in “Computer Based Test (CBT)” mode only and Drawing Test – Part III in “Pen & Paper Based” (offline) mode to be attempted on drawing sheet of A4 size.
  3. B. Planning: Mathematics- Part I, Aptitude Test-Part II and Planning Based Questions Part III in “Computer Based Test (CBT)” mode only.

The medium of Question Paper shall be in English, Hindi and Gujarati. The option of/ question paper language should be exercised while filling up the Application Form and it cannot be changed at a later stage.

JEE Main Eligibility Criteria & Registration :

Candidates must ensure their eligibility before applying for the JEE Main exam.

Candidates can check the eligibility criteria from below:

Age Limit :
  1. Candidates must be more than 17 years and less than 25 years of age as on October 1, 2020.
  2. General candidate must be born on or after October 1, 1995 and SC, ST and PWD category must be born on or after October 1, 1989.
Attempt Limit :
  1. Candidates can attempt for maximum three times for the JEE Mains exam.
  2. Attempt limit is same for all the categories.
  3. For JEE Advanced, candidates can appear for maximum two consecutive years.
Qualification Criteria :
  1. Qualifying Exam: 10+2 or equivalent exam passed in 2018 and 2019 are eligible to apply.
  2. Appearing Candidates: Candidates appearing in the 12th exams in 2020 can apply.
  3. Diploma Holders: Diploma candidates can also apply but only for admission in IITs. Such candidates also have to appear for JEE Advanced exam.
  4. Minimum Marks: There is no minimum mark required to apply for JEE Main.
  5. For admissions to IITs, NITs, IIITs and CFTIs: Candidates have to secure 75% (65% for SC/ST) in 12th exams or be in top 20 percentile of the respective board.
  6. Number of Subjects: Candidates must have five subjects in the 10+2 exam. Candidates should have physics, mathematics, language, any one from the Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Technical Vocational Subject and any other subject
  7. Year of Appearance: 6 Candidates must have passed the qualifying exam in 2018, 2019 or will be passing in 2020 are only eligible to appear for JEE Main 2020.
JEE Main 2020 Registration Process :
  1. Candidates applying for the exam for the first time.
  2. Candidates who appeared for Jan exam and are now applying for the second attempt.

Following are the details of JEE Main registration 2020 :
  1. Aadhaar card requirement will be mandatory to fill the application.
  2. Candidates have to apply for JEE (Main) April-2020 “Online” ONLY by accessing the websites: www.nta.ac.in and jeemain.nta.nic.in
  3. JEE Main application form 2020 will be released from 02nd week of Sep 2019 (for Jan exam) and 2nd week of Feb 2020 (for April attempt)
  4. Complete the Application Form by providing
    1. choice of course(s) (B.E./B.Tech. or B. Arch. /B. Plan. or both),
    2. question paper medium,
    3. choice of four centre cities,
    4. medium of Instructions/Study-Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in Class 11th/12th/equivalent
    5. education details of Class 12/equivalent: like type of school and Roll No and Year of Passing/Appearing,
  5. Candidates have to upload the scanned images of passport size photograph and signature of candidate & mother’s/father’s/guardian.
  6. The images should be in JPG or JPEG format
  7. Size of scanned photograph should be between 10 kb to 200 kb. The photograph should be coloured or black & white
  8. Size of scanned signature should be between 4 kb to 30 kb.
  9. Size of scanned 12th Admit card/Mark sheet/Certificate card must be between 50kb to 500kb.
  10. Multiple applications from a single candidate will be rejected.
JEE Main 2020 Application Fee :

All the candidates have to pay application fee for JEE Main 2020. Even those candidates who applied earlier for the January exam.

  1. The application fee will be changed as per the categories and mode of examinations.
  2. The application fee will be non-refundable.

Step by Step Process to Apply for JEE Main 2020 :

Candidates can only fill JEE Main 2020 application form from the official website jeemain.nta.nic.in . Candidates can check here some important steps for JEE Main 2020 Registration:

Step 1: Registration –This step is only for those candidates who did not apply for the Jan exam and are applying for the April exam for the first time.

  1. Click on the link above. It leads to the registration page, Candidates need to click on the “Application for Jee Main 2020” button.
  2. Then the candidates have to click on the "Fresh Registration Only” button in the next open window.
  3. Then the candidates have to click on the “New Registration” button in the next open window.
  4. On clicking the button, an instruction page opens. Read all the instructions and when done, tab the “Click here to proceed” button.
  5. After the step above, the candidates need to register. To do so, the candidates need to enter:
    1. State of Eligibility
    2. State where class 12th / NIOS Centre is located
    3. Identification ID type
    4. Identification ID number
    5. Candidates Name
    6. Date of Birth
    7. Gender
    8. Password of choice for login
  6. Lastly, the candidates need to enter captcha code and then click on the blue “Submit” button.
  7. Preview the registration form once before the final submission. The checklist for the checking the details in the form is given in the form. Check all of them and then click on the final submit button in red.
  8. As soon as JEE Main 2020 registration is done, the candidates get an application number and status of application process. Keep the number safe.

Step 2: Filling the online application form – This step is to be carried by all the candidates. Already registered candidates: Candidates who registered for 1st attempt.

  1. just need to click on need to click on the “Application for Jee Main 2020” button & then click on "Apply with Jee (Main) January 2020 credentials" and enter the application number and password for signing in.
  2. After entering the dashboard, candidates have to click on the button that says “complete application form”.
  3. Next, the candidates need to fill the application form. In the application form candidates have to enter the following details:
    1. Personal details
    2. Applying for – paper and exam city preference.
    3. Educational details
    4. Parents income details
  4. After entering all the details, candidates need to click on the “submit” button and review the entire form once Make sure to edit all the needed details before submitting it finally.

Step 3: Uploading of scanned images –

  1. On the dashboard click on the button that says “upload images”.
  2. On doing so, a screen opens. Here upload the images as per the specifications.

Step 4: Payment of the application fee –

  1. Once the images are uploaded, candidates have to move to pay the application fee. The candidates have to click on the “pay examination fee” button on their dashboard.
  2. To pay the application fee on the dashboard click on the link that says “Application fee payment”. On doing so the below screen opens, select the payment mode and click on the “proceed to payments” button.

Step 5: Download the confirmation page –

  1. On successful payment, you are redirected to your dashboard. Here click on the link that says “download confirmation page”. Download the page and save for future needs.
Note:
  1. Candidates can edit JEE Main application form 2020 multiple time before submitting the application fee. However, once the fee is paid, editing of detail closes.
  2. Save the application number and password carefully, as it is needed at the time of checking JEE Main result, answer key, question paper and response sheets.
JEE Main 2020 Application Form Status :

You can check the status of JEE Main 2020 application form submission anytime, by logging into your account. To check the status enter your dashboard using application number and password. For the completed action, the status is shown as “complete” & For the action yet not taken the status is shown as “incomplete”.

Your application form is submitted only after the fee payment is successful. So make sure that your "Application Fee Payment" status is "Complete".

JEE Main Application Correction 2020 :

Candidates will be able to correct or modify the detailed in the application form during the correction period. Here we are providing JEE Main 2020 application form correction details:

  1. The correction facility will be provided from 14th to 20th October 2019 for the January session registration and earlier 13th to 16th march 2020 & then extended from 1st April to 3rd May 2020 for 2nd Attempt.
  2. Corrections will be done only through online mode.
  3. Corrections will be allowed in all entries except change of exam mode from CBT to PBT.
  4. Any additional fee can be paid through credit/debit card, e-wallet or e-challan.
JEE Main Exam Pattern 2020 :

The examination will comprise of two papers, i.e. paper I (for B.E./B.Tech.) and paper II (for B.Arch./B.Plan.). The detailed JEE Main exam pattern for both papers is mentioned below:

  • Exam Mode: The examination will be held through online CBT mode.
  • Subjects: JEE Main will contain questions from Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics subjects.
  • Type of Questions:Objective type -Multiple Choice questions will be asked.
  • Number of Questions: 25 questions will be there in each PCM section. 20 questions will be of multiple choice type & 5 questions answers to be filled as numerical value. Total questions will be 75 in the paper.
  • Exam Duration: The exam duration will be 3 hours. 4 hours for candidates having 40% disability.
  • Question Paper Medium: The question paper medium is in English & Hindi for all centre cities. For centre cities in Gujarat, Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu, candidates can opt Gujarati as language. Students have to make option of language medium at the time of application process. No changes can be done later.
  • Marking Scheme: Each correct question will carry 4 marks.
  • Negative Marking: 1 mark will be deducted for each incorrect response. There will be no negative marking for numerical value answer type of questions.

JEE Main B.Arch./B.Plan. Exam Pattern :
  • Exam Mode: The mode of exam for B.Arch./B.Plan. is online (CBT) only. The drawing test of Paper 2 for B.Arch. will be conducted through offline mode on a sheet of A4 size.
  • Subjects: The JEE Main will comprises of three parts which are mathematics, aptitude test and drawing test. for B.Arch. and mathematics, aptitude, planning based Objective MCQs for B.Plan.
  • Type of Questions: Objective type -Multiple Choice questions will be asked for B.Arch. and B.Plan. except the Drawing Test. The Drawing Test will be Subjective for B.Arch.
  • Number of Questions: 25 questions will be there in mathematics section of which 20 questions will be of multiple choice type & 5 questions answers to be filled as numerical value & 50 questions in Aptitude test for both B.Arch. as well as for B.Plan. 2 subjective questions in drawing test for B.Arch., 25 questions in planning based objective questions for B.Plan. There will be total of 77 questions in the B.Arch. paper. and 100 questions in the B.Plan. paper.
  • Exam Duration: The duration of the exam will be 3 hours. 4 hours for candidates having 40% disability.
  • Question Paper Medium: Question paper medium is English and Hindi. Students filling the exam centres in Gujarat, Daman & Diu and Dadra and Nagar Havel cities have the option to opt the question paper in English, Hindi and Gujarati medium.
  • Marking System: Each question will carry 4 marks for the correct response.
  • Negative Marking: For each incorrect response, 1 mark will be deducted from the total score. There will be no negative marking for numerical value answer type of questions.
